Privacy Policy

Last updated:

IP Locator (“the App”) is developed and published by LinnetLab.

1. Overview

IP Locator is an Android app that determines the external IP address your device is seen with on the internet and shows the country, city, and network provider behind it.

The developer does not operate user accounts and does not run a custom backend server that collects your lookups, name, email address, or contact details.

2. Data Stored Locally on Your Device

Lookup history, app settings, theme preference, language preference, and locally stored feature-access state are kept on your device.

This local data is not sent to the developer’s servers.

You can remove it by clearing the App’s data or uninstalling the App.

3. IP Address Lookups

To determine an external IP address and its location, the App sends a request to a third-party IP geolocation service. That service receives the IP address the request is about and returns data such as country, region, city, and network provider.

When you check your own connection, the address processed is the one your device is currently seen with. When you enter another address, that address is sent instead.

The developer does not receive a copy of these lookups. The third-party service processes requests under its own privacy policy and terms.

4. In-App Purchases

The App uses Google Play Billing to process optional in-app purchases.

The App does not receive or store your payment card details; payment processing is handled by Google Play.

To provide paid features, the App may receive and store purchase-related information such as product identifiers, purchase status, purchase tokens, and transaction information provided by Google Play Billing.

5. Ads and Consent

The App may show ads.

It uses Google AdMob / the Google Mobile Ads SDK to load and show them, and Google’s User Messaging Platform (UMP) to request or manage consent where required by law.

Google and its partners may collect or process data for advertising, fraud prevention, diagnostics, and service operation. This may include device identifiers, advertising identifiers, IP address, app interactions, diagnostic information, and consent choices.

6. Third-Party Services

The App may use the following third-party services:

  • A third-party IP geolocation service — resolving IP addresses to location and provider data
  • Google Play Billing — in-app purchases
  • Google AdMob / Google Mobile Ads SDK — ads
  • Google User Messaging Platform — consent management where required
  • Google Play services and Android system services — platform functionality

These services process data under their own privacy policies and terms. Google Privacy Policy

7. Data Sharing

The developer does not sell personal data.

The developer does not share your lookup history with third parties — it stays on your device.

Third-party services integrated into the App, such as the IP geolocation service, Google AdMob, and Google Play Billing, process data as described above and under their own policies.

8. Children’s Privacy

The App is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal data from children.

9. Your Rights and Data Control

Because lookup history and settings are stored locally, the developer cannot access, modify, export, or delete them for you.

You can delete local data by clearing the App’s data or uninstalling the App.

For data processed by Google services, refer to Google’s privacy controls and policies.

10. Data Security

Local app data is stored using standard device storage mechanisms.

No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but the App is designed so that your lookup history stays on your device unless you choose to share it.

11. Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability

The App is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without warranties of any kind, express or implied.

Location data for an IP address is approximate, comes from a third-party service, and may be inaccurate or out of date.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the developer is not liable for any damages, losses, or issues arising from use of the App.

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated. Any update is reflected on this page with a revised “last updated” date.
