IP Locator for iOS (“the App”) is developed and published by LinnetLab.
1. Overview
IP Locator is an iOS app that determines the external IP address your device is seen with on the internet and shows the country, city, and network provider behind it.
The developer does not operate user accounts and does not run a custom backend server that collects your lookups, name, email address, or contact details.
The App shows no advertising, contains no analytics or tracking SDK, and does not ask for permission to track you across other apps and websites.
2. Data Stored Locally on Your Device
Lookup history, app settings, theme preference, and language preference are kept on your device.
This local data is not sent to the developer’s servers.
You can remove it by deleting the App.
3. IP Address Lookups
To determine an external IP address and its location, the App sends a request to a third-party IP geolocation service. That service receives the IP address the request is about and returns data such as country, region, city, and network provider.
When you check your own connection, the address processed is the one your device is currently seen with. When you enter another address, that address is sent instead.
The developer does not receive a copy of these lookups. The third-party service processes requests under its own privacy policy and terms.
4. Purchases
The App is free, and purchases are not available in it yet.
If a paid feature is added later, Apple’s App Store will process the payment. The App would not receive or store your payment card details.
This section will be updated before any purchase becomes available in the App.
5. Third-Party Services
The App may use the following third-party services:
- A third-party IP geolocation service — resolving IP addresses to location and provider data
- Apple App Store services — app distribution and, in future, purchases
- iOS system services — platform functionality
These services process data under their own privacy policies and terms. Apple Privacy Policy
6. Data Sharing
The developer does not sell personal data.
The developer does not share your lookup history with third parties — it stays on your device.
The third-party IP geolocation service processes the addresses you look up as described above and under its own policy.
7. Children’s Privacy
The App is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal data from children.
8. Your Rights and Data Control
Because lookup history and settings are stored locally, the developer cannot access, modify, export, or delete them for you.
You can delete local data by deleting the App.
For data processed by Apple, refer to Apple’s privacy controls and policies.
9. Data Security
Local app data is stored using standard device storage mechanisms.
No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but the App is designed so that your lookup history stays on your device unless you choose to share it.
10. Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability
The App is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
Location data for an IP address is approximate, comes from a third-party service, and may be inaccurate or out of date.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the developer is not liable for any damages, losses, or issues arising from use of the App.
11. Changes to This Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated. Any update is reflected on this page with a revised “last updated” date.
